Breaking News: FIFA Imposes Transfer Ban on Al-Nassr over Unpaid Leicester City Add-Ons

Cristiano Ronaldo and Ahmed Musa at Al-Nassr

Al-Nassr, the Middle East club that made headlines with the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo, has received a transfer registration ban from FIFA. This punishment comes as a result of their failure to pay Leicester City the owed money in add-ons following the acquisition of Ahmed Musa.

Al-Nassr had been active in the transfer market, recently adding Croatia midfielder Marcelo Brozovic from Inter Milan to their star-studded squad. However, their pursuit of Chelsea's Hakim Ziyech and Sassuolo's Domenico Berardi may be in jeopardy, as it appears their summer business is now over.

According to an official ruling by FIFA, Al-Nassr still owes Leicester City money related to the £14 million transfer of Ahmed Musa in 2018. It has been reported that the amount owed in add-ons is £390,000, which remains unpaid by Al-Nassr.

Ahmed Musa in action for Leicester City

The ruling was initially issued in 2021, with Al Nassr being instructed to comply or face a transfer registration ban. As a result of their failure to settle the debt with Leicester city, FIFA has taken action against the nine-time Saudi top-flight champions, imposing a ban on their ability to register new players.

In accordance with FIFA's original ruling, the transfer registration ban will last for three windows. Ahmed Musa, the Nigerian international, had a mixed spell at Leicester City. After joining the club for a then-record fee of £16 million from CSKA Moscow in 2016, he struggled to make an impact, scoring only five goals in 33 appearances. He was subsequently sold to Al-Nassr for €18 million (£15.4 million) in 2018 but is currently playing for Sivasspor in Turkey.
