Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is considering an offer from Saudi Pro League side Ettifaq F.C, which could potentially transform his career. The 33-year-old midfielder is expected to reach a decision soon, with the enticing offer capable of quadrupling his current wages at Liverpool.
According to The Athletic Football Correspondent, David Ornestein, Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, who had a strong bond with Henderson during their time together at Liverpool FC, is actively supporting the pursuit of this opportunity.
Should Henderson give his approval, discussions between the clubs will swiftly commence.
Having signed a four-year contract in the summer of 2021, Henderson still has two years remaining with Liverpool. If he decides to join Ettifaq F.C, an agreement on a transfer fee would need to be reached between the two clubs.
To date, Liverpool has not received any official contact from other clubs expressing interest in Henderson. However, if the talented midfielder gives his nod to the move, immediate talks will be initiated to negotiate a deal.
Since Gerrard's departure in 2015, Henderson has served as Liverpool's captain, accumulating an impressive 492 appearances across all competitions.
During the previous season, Henderson featured in 43 matches for Liverpool, making 23 Premier League starts as Jurgen Klopp's side secured a fifth-place finish.
The Saudi Pro League has emerged as an attractive destination for several European stars following the Public Investment Fund's takeover of Al Hilal, Al Nassr, Al Ittihad, and Al Ahli.
Notably, Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in December, while Karim Benzema made a surprising move to Al Ittihad in early June, joining his former Real Madrid teammate.
Moreover, Henderson's former Liverpool teammate Roberto Firmino recently signed with Al Ahli after the expiration of his contract with the Premier League side. Other notable players such as N'Golo Kante, Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic have also made moves to Saudi Pro League this summer.
