Breaking News: Mason Mount Signs for Manchester United in a £60 Million Deal from Chelsea

Manchester United have reached an agreement with Premier League rivals Chelsea for the signing of 24-year-old midfielder Mason Mount. The deal, reported to be worth up to £60 million, includes a transfer fee of £55 million and £5 million in add-ons.

After three rejected bids, Manchester United initially hesitated to offer a figure higher than £55 million. However, successful negotiations between the clubs resulted in a slightly higher fee being agreed upon. Mount's transfer would make him the fifth most expensive English player, following Jadon Sancho, Harry Maguire, Jack Grealish, and Jude Bellingham.

Mount has been granted permission to undergo a medical with Manchester United, and discussions regarding personal terms took place four weeks ago and was all agreed, as he was eager to join the club.

Throughout his career, Mount has been with Chelsea, with notable loan spells at Vitesse in 2017 and Derby County in 2018.

Once recognised as England’s biggest upcoming prospect, the Chelsea midfielder will look to recover his 2021 form where he scored 16 goals and had 11 assists for club and country.

With Mount being a previous Champions League, Club World Cup and Super Cup winner, the young star has experience on the biggest stages and is sure to bring that experience into the Manchester United midfield alongside elite players such as Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes.
