"Helpless and Afraid" Gianluigi Donnarumma Speaks Out on Violent Home Robbery

PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has shared details of the violent home robbery he endured Thursday night, with Italian media Libero, as reported by Sud Ouest. Donnarumma was assaulted, overpowered, and tied up by the robbers.

"I was immobilized, and Alessia [Elefante, his girlfriend] was forced to give them everything valuable that we had," Donnarumma recounted. The robbers made away with belongings estimated to be worth around €500,000 (£432,813). However, Donnarumma refrained from confirming the exact amount, as an official police investigation is still in progress.

Recalling the terrifying event, the former AC Milan player revealed that the robbers were unmasked and spoke with a French accent.

Donnarumma expressed deep concern for his girlfriend's safety, stating, "I was very afraid for Alessia, that something might happen to her. Me, I was helpless, tied up, I could not do anything. In addition, I don't speak French fluently, so it was difficult to explain to these people where our stuff was," mentioned the 24-year-old goalkeeper.

Following the traumatic incident, Donnarumma had to spend the night in a hotel while the police conducted forensics examinations at his home. Despite the distressing experience, he remains committed to his duties and is set to join the PSG squad for their pre-season tour in Japan. Reflecting on the incident, he shared, "To suddenly find people at your place at 3 am, I think it is the worst possible feeling."

Previous incidents show that Donnarumma's harrowing home robbery is not an isolated case among PSG players. It's crucial for PSG and other French clubs to try and prioritize their players' safety by enhancing home security measures to prevent such traumatic events from recurring.
