Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Sergio Rico has emerged from a coma following a horse-riding accident, according to his wife, Alba Silva. Rico sustained severe head injuries in May, resulting in him being sedated twice by medical professionals. Concerns were raised about his long-term health, but his recent progress has brought hope to his loved ones.
The accident occurred when Rico collided with a horse, leaving him in a coma and prompting worries about his condition. Earlier this month, it was reported that he was improving but remained in a serious state. However, Alba Silva has now provided an update, stating that Rico has regained consciousness and is on the road to recovery.
Silva expressed her relief, stating, "We can finally see the end of the tunnel. We're taking it step by step. I knew from the beginning that he would overcome it because he's a champion."
To show their support, PSG players wore special tribute t-shirts for Rico before the end of the season. His family has decided to limit updates to significant developments only.
Rico will continue to receive treatment at the Virgen del Rocio Hospital in Seville, where he is currently being cared for. While he has reportedly shown signs of recognition towards family members, Silva emphasized the importance of patience during his recovery process.
